SUBJECT: Tuscan PTA Newsletter 10/30

The sun BLAZED in the sky today in that special way it does in the Fall. What a spectacular Tuscan event, and wow, the whole school community turned up. A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, the kids (and bigger kids?) all had a great time. Anyone find the video of the hula hoop competition strangely calming to watch? Let’s get at it!

We have an app for that

Download the Membership Toolkit app wherever you get your apps, log in with your Membership Toolkit account, sync with your calendar and badda boom, badda bing, you’re connected!

Get the warm and fuzzies for the 5th grade

Tomorrow (October 31) is the last day to order your warm, winter hate as part of 5th grade fundraiser and receive it before the holidays. Do it now! Do it here!

Meet us!

November 1 marks the next Tuscan PTA meeting. Come and listen to updates from Nora, our fabulous President, and Ms. Majeed and Mr. Bertani. The meeting is an hour (7:30-8:30pm) and open to everyone. You can join via this link.

Some great things have been achieved!

The Achieve Foundation has announced that it has given $65,000 in funding to 34 programs across our District. Funding has made an impact across our school from kindergarten to 5th grade. Interested to know who benefited? You can do so here.  Want more info (including upcoming grant deadlines if you’re a teacher?)? Find that here.

Let's talk anxiety in elementary-aged kids

What does it look like? How can we provide support at home? Who can help at school? Where to start?? Please plan to join SEPAC SOMA on November 21 for this important discussion on how to help not only kids with IEPs and 504s but any K-5 student who may be struggling. (And stay tuned for anxiety and mental health for older students at the December meeting.) More about the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC).

Ah, nuts!

Turns out we were sending you to the wrong Instagram account. The RIGHT one is: @tuscanpta.

Thanksgiving drive is underway

Every November, the PTA raises money for Tuscan families to help them with their Thanksgiving meal.  We hope to help between 35 and 40 families and raise between $3,500 and $4,000 by November 18.

Want to help? Here's how:

1) by donating online here

2) by sending a check to your child’s classroom made payable to the Tuscan PTA - please write ‘Thanksgiving Drive’ in the memo line

3) by sending cash to your child’s classroom in an envelope marked ‘Thanksgiving Drive’.

Any donations will be used by the PTA to purchase grocery store gift cards. We will give these to Ms. Buggy, our school social worker. We use grocery store gift cards so each family can celebrate the holiday according to their own tastes and cultural traditions.
