SUBJECT: Tuscan PTA Newsletter 5/1 [copy]

The sun was out, the music pumping, the bouncy slide busy, and the grill fired up. We feel that it’s safe to say that the Tuscan Fair was a huge success. So great to see everyone out, laughing, and having a good time. A shout out to Leonal Rocha, our head custodian. All the thank yous to Holly Keith and Regina Hanley for making the whole thing happen. We are lucky to have you and your dedication to the event made the whole day a huge success. Over to Maddy Shaw and Rebecca Scheer to start organizing next year’s fair. Now, where’s the aloe? I burnt my face…

But we’re not done with the thank yous

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who helped to make the day special. But more specifically:

  • The grillers: Mike Lehrer, Will Werwath, Matt Dujnic, Mark Brinton, Patrick Sulin, and Justin Hogan.

  • The raffle ticket organizers: Frankie Sirianni and Jennifer Roszell.

  • The spirit wear sellers: Erica Galea and Laura Carney.

  • All the 5th graders who ran the games

  • All the parents who signed up for a shift and sold tickets, food, bought snacks, helped set up and clean up!

PTA Meetings - WE NEED YOU!

Our next PTA meeting is Wednesday, May 11 at 7:30 pm via this Zoom link. This is a very important meeting because we’ll be officially electing our Nominating Committee! The Nomm Comm as we like to call it is parents who are looking for volunteers to fill next year’s open positions! This year’s Nomm Comm is: Whitney Swain, Donny Levit, Amy Bhattacharyya and Wen Zhu. Are you interested in PTA leadership? We need a new VP (who usually steps in to be the President the following year) and a new Treasurer. We also need committee members and chairs to help with next year’s fundraising, yearbook, membership, teacher appreciation, class coordinator leader and more. The election for next year’s Executive Board will be in our June meeting.

Minutes from the last meeting will be available next week.

Capture the year in book form

The end of the year is in sight. And you know what that means! It’s yearbook time. Tomorrow is the last day to order your customized yearbook and you can do that here. The overall deadline to order one is May 15.

A special reminder for Grade 5 families- The PTA will gift each 5th grader a yearbook with the two free customized pages. To both customize your book and have the PTA purchase it, please get your book ready and select ‘pay later.’ If you’d like to make the equivalent of a $20.78 donation to the PTA, you can order your book and pay for it. We are also seeking cute pictures of our kids when they were tiny tigers (LOL, sob!) - it is a tradition that we include some photos of the current 5th graders during their younger years at Tuscan. If you’d like to participate, please send a few photos to rbschwartzy@gmail.com by Friday, May 6. These will be in the 5th grade section that is printed in all the books.

Help make the recess fun AND safe

Recess is fun! Recess is outside! And to ensure the safety of our kiddos, we are in need of parent/guardian volunteers to help make sure that recess is fun and safe. Interested? Sign up for next week here.

Let's talk mental health!

On Wednesday May 4, The Essex County Mental Health Association will be providing an introductory presentation about mental health, entitled Mental Health 101. The event, which is nondenominational, will be held at Prospect Church. It is a hybrid event so folks can come in person or watch virtually here.
