Week of Respect at Tuscan

9/30/2023 8:56 am

October 2nd to October 6th is this year’s “Week of Respect.” The Week of Respect is a week-long opportunity for all of us to recognize and use the power of our words and actions to show a unified commitment to anti-bullying.

Please notes that the “dress days” are optional, as some fall on Picture Days this year. Your child does not have to dress like a superhero if Tuesday is your Picture Day. However, if that’s your child’s vibe, we encourage self expression!

Smile, it's Picture Day(s)!

9/27/2023 2:22 pm

Picture Days are Monday, October 2, and Tuesday, October 3, with a rain date set for Wednesday, October 4. Our amazing photographer Peter Collura is back! Pictures are outside in the Tuscan Dell (if you aren't familiar, look to your right after crossing the bridge off Tuscan Road onto school grounds). You do not need to pre-order photos; order forms will come home after your child's picture is taken. Check your Tiger's backpack this week for a flyer with more information.

Please email any questions you have about Picture Day to Vanessa Parvin (vanessajuneparvin@gmail.com) or Carrie McGee (carrieleemcgee@gmail.com).

Oh, we could also use some volunteers for Picture day, please sign up here. Duties include corraling Tigers into line, smoothing hair and straightening clothes (with the Tiger's permission, ofc), and encouraging smiles.

You can see when your Tiger's class has their slot if you want to catch them (or perhaps you wish to avoid them, IYKYK) - sign up for a time slot and you're set!

Newstead 5K: Come run, come all

9/21/2023 6:26 am

The annual Newstead 5K will be held on Saturday, September 30. The race kicks off at 9 a.m. in front of the South Mountain Annex at 112 Glenview Rd. in South Orange. The Newstead 5K benefits the Achieve Foundation, which provides grants, funding, and programming through private donations for South Orange-Maplewood School District kiddos in grades K-12. (Full disclosure: Your newsletter writer is co-directing this race, so I'm biased, but it's one of the best local 5Ks you'll ever run!)

There is also an accompanying walk and a kids' fun run ( a dash one for the littles 4 and under, and a half-mile out-and-back for the bigs). Lace up your sneakers, velcro your Tiger's sneakers, and come on out for a great day of community-building and raising up our kids. Register for all events here!
