First SEPAC Meeting of the Year - Monday October 17th

SEPAC is back! The first SEPAC meeting of the year is Monday October 17th at 7:30pm. 

Susie Budine, Assistant Superintendent of Special Services, will share an overview of Special Education in our district. Half Days

This week we have two half days: 

Tuesday October 11 (Staff Professional Development day)

Thursday October 13 (BTS Night, baby). Dismissal is at 12:45pm on both days. Pack a big snack, no lunch at school unless your TT attends the Y Aftercare, please send them in with lunch if they'll be with the Y. 

ALSO, THIS IS IMPORTANT! If you are attending BTS night, you MUST 10000000% be masked up. And have fun. That is all.

Just say NO to bullying

This week is Anti-Bullying week, and every day has a different theme. Check it out!

Monday: World Day of Bullying Prevention ( Wear blue as the official color for the World Day of Bullying Prevention!)

Tuesday: H.E.R.O Day (Help Everyone Respect Others by dressing as your favorite superhero!)

Wednesday: Workout Wednesday (Wear workout gear to show that we can “work out” our problems with kindness!)

Thursday: Dare To Be Different (Wear a mix n match outfit to show how you can dare to be different!)

Friday: Free Spirit Friday (Dress to show something you support or care about (like your school, an organization, or sports team!)

5% Discount in October: Want to check 'Order Yearbook' off your to-do list? Receive a 5% discount if ordering in October! For detailed instructions, see the attached flyer. More of the last-minute type? You have until the Spring so we'll remind you later.

 

Yearbooks for 5th Graders: Softcover yearbooks with 2 customizable pages *will* be complimentary this year for 5th grade students. This is not yet reflected in Treering, but there is no need to rush to order. You can always upgrade to a hardcover and add custom pages for an extra fee up until April 27th. If you're not interested in customizing any pages or upgrading to a hardcover -- you don't have to do anything on TreeRing; your 5th grader will receive a book.

 

Send Us Your Snaps: We've created a Google Drive folder where families can upload photos from events throughout the year, such as photos from the Tuscan Ice Cream Social! We prefer group shots so that we can ensure we get all kids into the yearbook! Please include the name and grade of child within the file name. Alternatively, you can email photos to tuscanyearbook@gmail.com.

Tuscan PTA Ice Cream Social is this Friday Sept 30th!

Like Ice cream? Hanging out? Like those two things together? This Friday, September 30, the annual Tuscan PTA Ice Cream Social is BACK! Each student will be issued with two free tickets, and additional tickets will be available for $2 each. Just show up on Friday to the front lawn at Tuscan at 5:30pm and have some fun! Non-dairy options will be available. Want to help? We need you! Sign up here.

Our very first meeting of the year will take place on September 28 at 7:30pm and will be a great chance to hear from President and Tuscan parent, Nora O’Rourke on what to expect from the PTA over the coming school year. Remember, remember, these dates for September

School is closed September 26 and 27 to observe Rosh Hashanah. The District helpfully puts the full 2022-23 school year calendar on its website, which can be found here. And don't forget you can also view the Tuscan PTA calendar here (and subscribe to it!) which also includes District dates. 

Volunteer in the Classroom!

Get in the ‘room

Now that we’re back Ms.Majeed would like to reintroduce the classroom volunteer. Do you think you’d like to do this? No? Would you rather help out but outside of the school? There will also be an opportunity for family volunteers to help tidy up the exterior of the school. Next week, we’ll include a sign up sheet for those of you who’d like to lend a helping hand. Think about it! 

What does this mean for recess volunteers?

As more families are vaccinated and CDC guidelines evolve, the District wants to move towards normality and pre-Covid schedules. It was a strain on schools having to start recess earlier, maintain academic schedules and monitor non-certified persons on premises. A HUGE thank you to everyone for helping out. 

SEPAC Chats are Back!

SEPAC chats are back!

The Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is hosting two informal, in-person gatherings to connect with other parents and caregivers in the district. The ‘Cup Chats’ are BYOC, so please bring your own coffee or other choice of beverage!

The chats will be held:

• Sunday, September 18, 3:00-4:00pm @ Leilo’s Sweet Shop, 306 Main Street in West Orange
• Tuesday, September 20, 9:15-10:15am (Rain Date: Thursday 9/22) @ Memorial Park, corner of Baker & Valley in Maplewood
